Prevent what is Preventable
The key point of difference that Transition Engineering has from other disciplines of Sustainability Engineering or Renewable Energy is that we take on the “wicked problems”. Wicked problems are the engineered systems that work well, but are unsustainable. People have defined wicked problems as being unsolvable. If you are a Star Trek fan, you will know that the way to deal with impossible dilemmas is to cheat the scenario. Thus, in Transition Engineering we learn to change our perspective and turn the wicked problem around. The 7-Step methodology is the framework for gaining this new perspective and “seeing” innovative opportunities for Shift Projects.
